We aren’t even close to finishing our holiday shopping. It will be weeks before we begin thinking about our New Year’s resolutions. However, as 2004 draws to a close, we wanted to catch you up on all of the exciting things that have happened at the GLAD WORKS studio this fall. Over the past couple of months, we have broken new ground, literally. In a never-ending quest for growth, GLAD WORKS acquired a 1,200 sq.ft addition to our original 3,000 sq.ft. mill studio. The expansion was a welcome change as it brought with it a new conference room and future recording suite. It has also assisted in making room for our expanding team. We are very happy to welcome both Cat Ganim, Production Manager and Jon Buonaccorsi, Web Application Developer in their first official issue of the WORKS! If you haven’t already had the pleasure, we know that you will love working with them as much as we do!

In October, GLAD WORKS was proud to announce that the Entrepreneurship Forum of New England has honored the Rhode Island full-service ad agency’s Founder and Creative Director, Gina DiSpirito, with an award for ‘Creative Place Maker’, spotlighting her innovative work around design and entrepreneurship. Every year the Forum awards an “EFNE” to those entrepreneurs who are making contributions to growing our regional community and practice of entrepreneurship. DiSpirito was made an ‘entrepreneur-in-residence’ during a day-long workshop focusing on giving the audience access to best practice, resources, and a community for growing entrepreneurship in New England. She also had opportunity to share a cup of coffee on NBC10’s morning business report with Frank Colletta while helping to promote the Forum.

When engineered properly, e-commerce can be a beautiful thing, integrating a company’s day-to-day operations with their online presence. In addition to helping Majik Coffee Company with a complete re-branding, the GLAD WORKS team has brewed up a fresh new web presence for Rhode Island’s greatest coffee roaster. Featuring a client-maintainable menu, intelligent order processing and an invisible link to the company’s existing billing system, all along side of a complete guide to Majik Coffee’s rich blends and online shopping cart.

As more businesses move towards custom-tailored advertising campaigns, we’ve had the chance to sit down with many of our clients and plot out solutions that best fit their needs. When Coast To Coast Promotional Products approached us with their 2004 Citizens Bank Logoline collection, we worked with their organization, photographing the entire line, laying it out as a print catalog, then building an online, e-commerce version of the catalog, accessible by Citizens employees nationwide. Other campaigns we’ve been busy crafting include groundbreaking print, web, and multimedia for Providence College’s FRIARTOWN 2004-05 season, blueport wireless, The Marion Institute, Prescott Chatellier Fontaine & Wilkinson, LLP, and the Rhode Island Blood Center.

One of the largest luxuries of using the internet as a marketing medium is the ability to quickly and easily track the impression your campaign has made on your audience. We recently worked with the FDNY Fire Zone, helping them launch a wildly successful holiday e-mail campaign. SEND, our direct eMarketing solution is a powerful, cost-effective method of reaching your customers with measurable results.

A truly great marketing campaign approaches its audience from a variety of angles. In addition to helping Festival Ballet Providence design and distribute their email newsletters, the GLAD WORKS team has put together a comprehensive marketing plan, handling everything from selective print collateral to their website and television commercials. The result has been a wide-reaching message, keeping ballet fans involved in the performances, including the world premier of the ballet adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg’s The Widow’s Broom and their upcoming performance The Nutcracker.

This fall, the GLAD WORKS-designed Draw a Breath website garnered national attention when launched in conjunction with Chris Van Allsburg’s The Polar Express, and featured in the November 7th USA Today. The CVS/pharmacy Draw A Breath program is an innovative asthma education program for children and their parents designed to provide families with the knowledge, skills, and tools to effectively manage asthma and GLAD WORKS was proud to assist in crafting their new online presence.
