Child's play.
On June 14th, GLAD WORKS launched the new online presence
for Chris Van Allsburg – author of such world-famous
books as Jumanji, The Polar Express and Zathura. The Flash-based
website was created as the online resource for all things
Van Allsburg, including virtual book tours, teachers’
resources and lesson plans; video clips; interviews and speeches;
FAQ’s; an interactive timeline; games; galleries of
his sculpture and drawings; wallpapers and screensavers; ePostcards
– even a scavenger hunt. Furthermore, Chris and the
GLAD WORKS team crafted an animated guide out of Fritz, the
English Bull Terrier that inhabits each of the author’s
books. The website has received critical acclaim and press.
Far more importantly: children [and adults] really seem to
enjoy it.
Launch pad.
This summer also witnessed the launch of new websites
for the Arts
& Business Council of Rhode Island, The
Place of Our Own [a joint partnership between the Rhode
Island Department of Children Youth and Families, the Rhode
Island Council of Resource Providers for Children Youth and
Families, Inc., Casey Family Services, and the Rhode Island
Foster Parents Association]. What’s more, our technolog-e
team helped engineer a live web-cast of a recent international
press conference, in which the owners of BROOKS announced
their acquisition of Eckerd.
Fine print.
Amongst the work coming of the press this summer,
GLAD WORKS crafted a set of high profile print pieces for
PK Walsh, New England's leading hair replacement salon, a
stunning capabilities brochure for Creative
Resources, Inc. and a new corporate identity set for Coast
to Coast Promotional Products. GLAD WORKS also completed it’s
largest print project ever: a 360°
wrap design for the Rhode Island Blood Center’s
brand new mobile blood bus.

on.
We’re proud to have crafted “Summer,”
a dynamic, high-rotation PR campaign for the Rhode Island
Blood Center. The inspirational campaign – executed
both for TV and radio – encourages donors to take just
one hour out of their summer activities to donate blood during
a time when donations are typically slow. In addition, GLAD
WORKS was commissioned by the Volunteers Center of Rhode Island
to create a media campaign to help increase family volunteering.
The result: “Family
Matters,” large-scale print work that can be seen
on RIPTA buses and bus-stop shelters all across the Ocean
State.
Direct hits.

More and more of our clients are
‘opting in’ for the powerful,
quantifiable, cost-effective potential of direct
eMarketing. This summer, we crafted a Father’s Day
direct eMail campaign for FDNY [The New York City Fire Department].
SEND,
our new cost-effective, client-maintainable eNewsletter service
was well received by several clients, including the Arts &
Business Council of Rhode Island, Festival Ballet Providence
and re.Source.
Big Apple.
On July 19th, after almost a decade of design, technology
and marketing in New England, GLAD WORKS opened a new studio
in Manhattan. While the bulk of the creative team will remain
in Pawtucket to tend to existing New England clients, the
Upper East Side location was selected to best serve our bourgeoning
New York City clientele. GLAD WORKS’ Marketing Director,
Callum Grieve will spearhead the development of GLAD
WORKS NYC.
