What’s Your Seasonal Marketing Plan?

Can you believe it’s already time to think about seasonal promotions? The first official day of fall is on September 22nd, which will be here before you know it. And after that, it’s the holiday season. We know you loathe thinking of this, but it’s time to face it. Do you have a plan for your seasonal and holiday promotions?  Don’t wait until the last minute to think about it because the time to get the ball rolling is now!  Here are a few ideas to help get you started.

A fresh look and a fresh promotion for fall

You walk into a drug store in late August and what do you see?  Halloween candy!  And right after that it’s Christmas stuff!  Stores everywhere take full advantage of season changes to switch up displays and run new promotions. It doesn’t even have to be related to a specific holiday. Take a look around at the grocery store right now and you’ll see many displays promoting snack food and recipes for football fans that like to party at home or go tailgating.

What can you do to take advantage of the new season that will bring your customers back for something fresh and new?  If you own a garden shop, why not offer a coupon for a fall decorating package?  If you sell sporting goods, promote your cold weather gear for outdoor fitness enthusiasts. Whatever your business may be, there’s a creative way to leverage the change of seasons.

Freshen the look of your store with new signage or send out some slick looking mailers to make those customers rush in to see you!

New product photography

Since we’re talking about freshening things up, now is good time to think about your ecommerce site. Now is the perfect time to take stock of what you have and what you’d like to get up on your site in preparation for the holiday season. Do any of those things need some great photos?  Do you have new products you just know people are going to love?  Maybe you even did a phenomenal job decorating your store and you’d like to put a great quality photo up on your website!  Whatever images you choose to add, just remember that they should be of the same good consistent quality that remains true to your brand.

And you don’t have to stop at just your website. Maybe it would be cool to mail out a product catalog this year.

Holiday cards

Speaking of the mail, isn’t it great when you get cool things instead of a bunch of bills?  It’s like a little present you can’t wait to open! But greeting cards don’t have to go out only during the traditional holiday season. You can send out a Halloween or Thanksgiving card instead!  For that matter, you can send out a card for any reason at all. If you pick a time that’s a little out of the ordinary, you’ll catch your customers by surprise and your card won’t get lost with all the other greetings.

Don’t forget mobile

We know you’re getting pretty tired of hearing us say this, but mobile is the future. More and more people are accessing the web from a smartphone or tablet than ever before. Make sure your website functions well on smaller screens and design your campaigns to be easily shared by your users.

If your budget allows, building an app might be a cool option. But if your budget is smaller, you can run a themed campaign on Facebook, Instagram or Vine instead.

No matter what your budget is, holidays and season changes are the perfect time to freshen things up and get creative. We hope our ideas helped kick-start your brain after an amazing and all too short summer. Give us a call and we can help you dream up the perfect plan that will make your customers fall for you all over again!
